Memorial Day 2011

There are many things that I have wanted to do while living here in DC and this year I can mark one of those off my list.

I visited Arlington on Memorial Day - but not only to visit the Cemetery - but to be there for the Laying of the Wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. At the crack of dawn (after accidentally falling back asleep) I received my wake up call from Logan saying they were waiting for me to start the trek to Arlington Cemetery.

We made it to the Visitor's Center where they had literally THOUSANDS of various colors of roses for all to take (for free) to lay on the grave and also to keep for a memory of the day. They were absolutely beautiful... And one thing that I thought was sooo thoughtful was the fact that they handed out a little flyer (my immediate thought was that it was so EVERYONE knew who donated the flowers), but it was solely to tell people to take some and lay them on the grave. It was such a thoughtful gesture that it made tears come to my eyes.

We then hopped in line to take the shuttle up to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It was a LONG line - and it was SUPER HOT - but we finally made it.

We were able to get into the actual amphitheatre and see in person the President of the United States.

Here are a couple of pictures of the event! It was amazing!

Michelle Obama made it there as well! I just never thought that I would be that close to the President and his wife.

It was a wonderful way to remember the sacrifices some have made so I can enjoy the freedom of America.

I've Got it Rough!

It is a really hard day at work today.

I had to ride around in a golf cart when I first arrived at work to make sure that my co-worker wouldn't drive too fast for our residents.

I then had to attend a Garden Party and wear my fancy hat and eat little party sandwiches and treats...

From there I had to go and attend a Luau in the Assisted Living and participate in the hula dancing contest...

What can I say other than it was a rough day at work! :)

Did she read my journal?

Have you heard of Adele - if not, we aren't friends anymore. She released a new CD and I seriously think that she read my journal!!

The songs feel as though she has reached into my soul to write the lyrics! I LOVE IT!!!

Here is a little sample of what you are missing out on -
Set Fire to the Rain!

She is unique and love the voice!!

Bummer!

So, I have been working out hard the last fews days with bootcamp and also with changing my eating habits. I drink more water, eat healthier, exercise, and actually eat at least three meals a day (I normally would eat one meal a day and then have crappy snacks the rest of the time)!

I told myself that I was only going to step on the scale once a month. But I couldn't resist the urge to check on my progress so onto the scale I went - only to be completely disappointed!!

Not only have I not lost any weight at all, but I have actually gained THREE pounds!! So far from my goal of being at the top of the MBL list this month...

Ugh! FRUSTRATING!!! :(

Spotlight - CHECK!

Can I just say that I have the most exciting news!!!!

Just realized what I wrote and what you are probably thinking so let me clear the air... No, I am not dating anyone. No, I am not engaged. No, I am not pregnant(did you READ the last two sentences?).

I received a call the day that I moved into my new place and it was a someone from the church asking if I will be a director for a Broadway Variety Show they want to put on! I was so excited - I literally had to calm myself down so I would know when to say YES!!! I felt like one of those people that the radio station calls when they won an amazing trip or crap loads of money!

Erin was there so I couldn't scream and do a little dance!

So, I will keep you posted on how things are going! I am so excited that I can't think of anything else - so I believe this can say how I am feeling!!

Drop and give me TEN!

YES, SIR!!!

At least that is suppose to be my response, although what I am actually thinking is something completely different. My friend Molly and I started to go to Sargeant's Bootcamp.

I was all anxious on the first day, to say that I am out-a-shape is the understatement of the year, and I didn't know what to expect. I read all about the program online and Molly had been in the program once before and filled me in on what she could.

We met up with Sargeant Chuck and about 15 other brave individuals. We ran, stretched and silly me, I thought "I can do this!" We then started doing push-ups, crazy arm movements, more running, more push-ups, jump rope, jumping jacks, more push-ups, more running, curb push-ups... Ugh - just thinking about those makes me extremely exhausted and my arms shake with fear!! Think that I am kidding about brave?? Nope! I totally puked about 30 minutes into the hour! Thankfully we are by a nice little tree patch - so it wasn't like it hit the pavement...

I just can't stand to look at pictures of myself! I also hate that the old people at work are walking faster than I am! (Okay, not really, but it feels like it!)

But I am truly inspired by my brother Logan! I want to run in a Ragnar and also Rebel Race!! I made awesome (at least I thought they were) signs for my friend while she ran in a mud race - I remember thinking then that the next time I went to one it was because I was participating! And those of you who don't know what Ragnar is all about - do some research!! Talk about AWESOME!!!! I was a volunteer for that race and LOVED the enthusiam the teams had for their members and other teams! LOVED IT!!!

So, those are my goals - oh - and of course WIN Merkley's Biggest Loser!

So Sargeant Chuck... Come Rain, Shine, Puke, Weak Arms, Outta Breath, Brink of collapsing.... To you I say - BRING IT!!!!
