Current Obsession!

Maybe it is because it stars Katherine McPhee and I LOVED her in American Idol!

Do You Hear the People Sing?

I had the opportunity to go to see the epic musical, "Les Miserables" with a few friends.

We started off the night running late from meeting in College Park (happened to be UMD's Homecoming Game) traffic was TERRIBLE!! Then go to get on the metro to head to the restaurant Tuscana West and the metro was a long wait!!

Time was not on my side that evening!

We reached the metro and quickly ate and jumped back on the metro (for another long wait time) and grabbed the shuttle to the Kennedy Center. We ended up being late and I missed seeing the song, "I Dreamed A Dreamed," I was heart broken! We were then lead to our seats which were in the middle of the section. It was nice!

Can't really see what it says, it is Les Miserables

The rest of the play was fantastic! I just love the music and the passion you can feel in the voices of the performers. This is one of my favorite musicals EVER! To see it in person was a dream come true! If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it!

It ended up being a fantastic night with great company and music! :)

One week til the show!!

One week from today is the opening night for our Stake Musical Revue. I have learned a lot from this experience.

1) I can’t direct and also participate in the program. As much as I love being part of the action and love to sing – I am not able to sleep at night because the stress has been a little overwhelming.

2) It is okay to say no. I really struggled with balancing what I could actually do in the amount of time given with what actually can be done. I would arrive early and stay late helping with painting, costumes, extra time with songs, etc. I finally had to tell myself that I was doing everything that I could and that was fine.

3) People are flakes sometimes… I didn’t realize when people said that they would be willing to help out with stuff, that they didn’t really mean it. Although I do understand that things get in the way sometimes...

4) Don’t use things that you love for props/costumes. I am over a girl’s number and brought some of my personal things (hats, jewelry, shoes) for the girls to use. I didn’t realize that they would be treated as poorly as they have been. Of course, carting them around doesn’t help…

5) There are dedicated people out there – they come to every practice with a smile on their face and an extremely fun spirit. It is working with them that I remember the reason that I said I would be a director!

I am grateful for the opportunity I have had in being a director. I learned that it is a lot of work for ALL involved!! The cast members have really put a lot of effort into bringing the songs to life. I am really excited to see how things are going to be during the performance!

So, if you are around next week and want something fun to do on Friday or Saturday – let me know!

For the first time in my life, I feel......

WICKED!!!

Picture this: center stage, 12 rows back at one of the best musicals EVER!
Jealous???? My dream that came true this past week. I scored some awesome tickets through work and couldn't believe my luck!

I went with a friend and my residents, we all piled onto the bus and excitement was high as we got closer! :)

I could see the conductor from my seat!! PLUS, all the amazing costumes!!! OH and let's not forget the SINGING/ACTING/FACIAL EXPRESSIONS!!!! I loved it all and just soaked it all in!

On the way home a resident pulled out his harmonica and we sang tunes from the older generation, I can't think of a better way to end a night! My friend and I then returned to my place for some yummy ice cream and a long night of chatting.

I can't remember the last time I had such a good time! There is so much more that I want to describe, but I am terrible with words. I just wish everyone could have felt the way I did that night!!! :)

Thank you friend and thank you WICKED!!!!
